President Notes
A new era of internet is emerging. Virtual Worlds have already become a truly popular kids and teens service, blending the boundaries of virtual worlds and other web services. Graphical, real-time interaction in virtual environment is natural evolution from the post-a-message based interaction.
We believe virtual worlds are in the nexus of the internet revolution both from users and brands perspective.
There is currently a momentum shift to virtual worlds by media, entertainment, toy and animation companies to reach their target audience and this coincides with the opening of previously walled garden social networks, creating vast opportunities for rich media user-to-user and brand-to-user interaction.
With seemingly a new virtual world launching every week, how does one avoid becoming just another me-too service and differentiate from the competition?
First, be very clear what is the mission of your service, who are your customers and what do you want them to experience and achieve through the virtual world? Focus on a clear mission and listen to your users to fine-tune the service.
Second, successful services will keep in mind that companies do not own or manage virtual communities. Users do. Key to success is putting users in charge and providing them just enough guidance, security, stimulation and tools for them to claim the virtual space as their own.
iLEMON is working with leading companies globally to create innovative, focused and immersive virtual worlds applying these principles.
